Petra held one her of treasured pumpkins in her arms, having knowledge of it’s gem hidden from human sight just under the stem. Many gem shards had found their way into these temporary hosts, either by her planting them there or by the planted ones going and seeking out to plant more on their own. This particular one was hallowed out... carved... emptied.... made into a joke for human entertainment. What evil and vile creatures these humans were. It was too much. If she could have it her way she’d march in and kill all the humans inside the home right now, but she knew they had their ways, and the street was littered with humans just like these. It would be no benefit to kill just a few at the moment, so all she could do would be to try and ensure that every carved and destroyed pumpkin like such was avenged, and planted with a gem shard if not already. She set the pumpkin down and opened the door gently, to which it slid back into the door from whence it had exited from.
Do what you must my friend... She wished she could say, but her cracked gem rendered her unable to speak without the sound being horribly distorted, she sounded like she was deep underwater or in some long tunnel. If she struggled hard enough she could manage out words, but saying such things was too tedious at the moment. Her songs, however, the distortion could be used to her advantage. Like herself being changed in a way different than corruption, she could recorrupt gems. She relied on them to help her fight off the beings trying to destroy this world. They relied on her too, they were empty and lost pieces of themselves. They didn’t belong to home-world or the rebellion, they had no purpose, but she could give them one.
Hearing shuffling of them pumpkins on the porches she smiled and began to walk away, singing for them, singing to them, singing about them. To the uncorrupted ear it sounded like some sort of old piano hitting keys that didn’t exactly fit together, yet they did. It was to lure more to her, to call them to serve a purpose. The only way a gem can be free... is if they’re serving.
